Book Club: Valmont Street, New Orleans

Man, it's nice to read novels again.
And to enjoy sultry Southern evenings on our back deck.
We lucked into a Victorian "double shotgun" house uptown near Audubon Park (and the zoo of course). It's a fairly young house for New Orleans, built in 1921. There's a flock of feral parakeets nesting up the block and a small yard that I am rapidly filling with tropical plants. White flocks of herons and ibises fly overhead every evening. An urban naturalist's paradise.
The book club crew have helped me feel at home in this town. Pictured: the hubby, Cordelia, Siobhan, Calvin, Scott, and Syd. Not pictured: Aesha, Brad, Deb, Dix, Jenny, and Shawn. Our flock of ringneck doves is in the background (randy little buggers, cooing and laying eggs like clockwork).
